
The
Federal State Unitary enterprise was set up under the
guidance of professor and doctor of technical sci-ences
V. A. Presnov in 1964. Since then it has become one
of the leading enterprises of the electronic industry
in Russia which has mastered the gallium arsenide technology
from A to Z. Research into materials technology and
development of methods of producing epitaxial structures
with complex doping profiles have allowed elaborating
and manufacturing various discrete devices and integrated
circuits based on gallium arsenide.
Both
in Russia and abroad the enterprise has been recognized
as a leader in such areas of electronic engineering
as the Gunn diodes, varicaps, mixer and detector diodes,
monolithic mixers and detectors of the millimeter-wave
band, light-emitting diodes.

Under the present day economic conditions the leaders
of the enterprise have formulated the concept of its
de-velopment in the production area proceeding from
the maximum use of its scientific and technological
reserve, and namely:

-
active search for foreign partners, investors and consumers
to support the most science-intensive and ex-port-profitable
scientific trends;

-
maximum cooperation with scientific and production spheres
both in Tomsk and other Siberian cities to realize complex
radioelectronic systems;

-
administrative and financial support of new trends and
products ensuring a minimum cycle of the turnover of
financial resources.
On the
whole, structural reconstruction of scientific collectives
has been completed and autonomous complexes capable
of producing competitive goods have been established.
These are:

-
a specialized design and technology office of microelectronics,
its tasks being development of GaAs- and hybrid-integrated
circuits, functionally completed radioelectronic products
using the above IC and HIC as well as special facilities;

-
a complex of microwave electronics with the purpose
of developing and manufacturing microwave semiconductor
devices, sensors and goods based on them;

-
a complex of materials technology and illumination engineering
with the purpose of developing a technol-ogy to produce
new semiconductor materials based on GaAs and Si as
well as illumination facilities and solar transformers
based on them;

-
a department of medical electronics with the purpose
of developing medical devices in the area of light-,
photo- and magnetic therapy, EHF and low frequency therapy;

-
a complex of structural materials aimed at developing
goods based on them;

-
a department of X-ray sensors.
The enterprise
has specialized services which carry out important functions
of its technological mechanism. They are a gas producing
station, a power service division, design and technology
departments, a toolmaker's shop, a laboratory of physicochemical
research, a model and experimental shop, a central test
station, a special machine build-ing shop, departments
of photo masks and electron-beam lithography. In addition
to carrying out its functional duties, each of the above
divisions ensures realization of services and goods.
The specialized
microelectronics design and technology office has developed
functionally complete systems of double application
including the field of communication, radioelectronic
protection, registration, and processing the results
of super-high-speed processes.
The independent
sensor department carries out the development of X-ray
quantum-sensitive detectors.
The
following projects have been developed in the above
trends:

-
hybrid-monolithic technology of constructing microwave
devices for radiorelay communication lines;

-
the technology of producing specialized super-high-speed
integrated circuits for goods of double applica-tion;

-
GaAs- technology of manufacturing a number of functional
facilities for transmitter-receiver systems;

-
radiorelay communication lines;

-
GaAs-based detectors of ionizing radiation.
One of
the most promising trends is the use of the existing
scientific and technological reserve in the area of
science of materials. Related to the above trend are
four projects that are in their realization stage:

-
development of growth equipment and production of silicon
and gallium arsenide to manufacture solar cells;

-
development and production of alternative power sources
based on solar energy for small-scale consum-ers;

-
development of high-efficiency optoelectronic and illuminating
engineering products on the basis of semi-conductor
emitters;

-
industrial engineering of semiconductor traffic lights.
In order
to keep up and develop the trend of elaboration and
batch production of microwave discrete elements (oscillator,
mixer, multiplier and tuning diodes), an additional
task has been set to construct functionally complete
mi-crowave modules for super-high-speed communication
systems, radiometry, various detectors of pressure,
temperature, flow rate and acceleration. The enterprise
is carrying out three projects related to the above
trend:

-
development and production of high-speed confidential
communication channels in the millimeter-wave band;

-
development and production of radiolocation motorcar
systems of the millimeter-wave band for measur-ing the
dynamic characteristics of moving objects;

-
development and production of detectors for various
branches of national economy.
The scientific
and technological reserve in structural materials for
discrete elements has allowed the enterprise to start
a new trend aimed at developing and producing functionally
complete consumer goods. There are two projects related
to the above trend:

-
production of water purification filters "Kapelka";

-
development and production of small-size water-treatment
stations.
The specialists'
experience in constructing devices operating in the
microwave band, infrared and optical spec-tra as well
as the existing reserve in the field of medical electronics
have made it possible to start an independent trend
of development and batch production of goods widely
used in medicine.
The enterprise
is carrying out three projects related to the above
trend:

-
increasing the nomenclature of self-contained electric
stimulators of gastrointestinal tract;

-
increasing the nomenclature of phototherapeutic devices;

-
batch production of devices for EHF therapy.
The gas
producing station has made it possible to considerably
increase the realization of gases, so nowadays the enterprise
is one of the leading suppliers of oxygen in Tomsk region.
Bottling of drinking water had been started on the basis
of the deionized water treatment station.
